MURDER OF CROWS
A peregrine falcon shall increase aircraft safety and avoid plane crashes caused by bird strikes
The Rostock airport in Eastern Germany has a problem. Every autumn thousands of crows flock here - to the buildings and the runways. If they were to fly into an airplane as it takes off or lands, the consequences could be catastrophic. Therefore, a pilot project is established: A peregrine falcon shall hunt the crows. Everything else they have tried has failed because crows are highly intelligent birds. The falcon must be specially trained as crows are not his natural prey. We follow the falconer has he trains his bird, witnessing the lessons up close as well as the expected successes and setbacks. Will the falcon pass the intensive training? Will it injure itself? How will the crows react to this new enemy?
